Starting your Project

Before you begin creating your project, you must follow the steps below:

  • Get organized and choose your topic
Think about the info and images you want to include on your website and what categories you’ll need to organize that content.   Think about an About page with contact info, or a Menu page to show off tasty treats. You’ll make quick progress if you can map out a general structure before you start creating your site.

  • Choose your domain
Register a custom domain or connect one you already own to your website. This helps people easily identify your business from your site’s online address.

  • Get a hosting plan
Web hosting is a service companies provide that allows you to make your website visible and accessible.
Rather than hosting your website on your network server, you rent space on a web hosting service provider — this ensures maximum speed, reliability, and security for your website.

  • Customize your website
Use our easy editor to add your content, products, and business info, and customize colors, fonts, and layouts.

  • Launch your website
Publish your website and watch your business grow, while managing everything — like website updates, reviews, and social posts — from one dashboard, on any device.

Creating your Project website

  • Website layout: You will create a five-page website.
    • 1st page: Homepage
    • 2nd page: About page
    • 3rd page: Contact page
    • 4th page: Products or services page 1
    • 5th page: Products or services page 2

Some common types of web pages include:

  • Homepage: The first page that visitors see when they go to the website. It sets the tone and directs users to other pages.  You will create a new homepage (index) that will serve as an entry point for the other four pages (links to each page on your website).   Create a horizontal-style main menu (navigation), It will have all the same common elements (header, nav, footer, and layout) as the other pages, except that it will have new content.

  • About page: A frequently visited page that helps differentiate a business from its competitors.

  • Contact page: An important page that should make it easy for potential customers to get in touch.   Contact information can be included in the footer or other strategic locations, and call-to-actions can be placed around the site.

  • Products or services page: An essential page for business websites that lists products or services, prices, and brief descriptions.   For example, a restaurant or cafe might include its menu on this page.
