Course Description

Web Page Design I & II introduces students to the fundamentals of website development and online publishing. Students will learn how websites function, how to acquire and manage a domain name, configure web hosting, and create professional websites using WordPress and Elementor.

 

The course also introduces Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to assist with content creation, website planning, and productivity. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, students will build and publish a personal portfolio website on a custom domain.

 

This course emphasizes practical workforce skills, digital literacy, and creative problem-solving while preparing students to manage and maintain a professional online presence.

 

Course Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Explain how websites and the Internet function.

  • Register and manage a custom domain name.

  • Configure and manage website hosting services.

  • Install and configure WordPress.

  • Design webpages using the Elementor Page Builder.

  • Create website layouts using modern web design principles.

  • Utilize AI tools to assist with content generation and editing.

  • Create navigation menus, hyperlinks, and multimedia content.

  • Publish and maintain a professional website.

  • Develop a digital portfolio for personal and professional use.

Students must have completed: A Basic Computer Skills Level 1-2-3 or similar course

Course Focus

Students will continue developing their website while exploring how the Internet impacts business, communication, and society.

 

Students will:

  • Expand their websites

  • Create additional pages

  • Add images and hyperlinks

  • Utilize Elementor and AI tools

  • Publish and maintain their websites

 

The emphasis is on creating functional websites using industry-standard tools.

Students must:

  • Attend all scheduled classes

Attendance Policy

  • Attendance is required for all class sessions.

  • Students should arrive on time and prepared to participate.

  • Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be required to make up missed work.

  • Students missing a class must coordinate with the instructor regarding missed assignments and activities.

  • Consistent attendance is essential for successful completion of the course.
